It never seems to be searching for a gear. Transmission: I test-drove an 8-speed RAV-4 and thought that this car doesn't know what gear it wants to be in. So would Mazda's 2.5T be better? For me I doubt it would matter. The only thing I've noticed so far is an occasional shudder at idle when the cylinder deactivation kicks in. There's enough low-end pickup for my city driving and I have no problem getting up to speed for freeway driving. I had no interest in a tiny 1.5L turbocharged engine (sorry Honda, Subaru and Nissan (actually there are a thousand reasons I wouldn't buy a Nissan, and there should be a thousand reasons why you wouldn't either)) and the Mazda's 2.5L 4-cylinder GDI engine is just fine for how I drive. 1 reason I bought the CX-5 is the powertrain. BTW: August wasn't the best time to buy a new car, but here we are.Įngine: The no. I bought a 2021 Deep Crystal Blue Meth Mica AWD CX-5 Touring in August after comparing it to the current RAV-4 and CR-V, so here's my 2-month review.
